Sparring Seminar with Hwang Su-Il (ITF Japan & Tekken)

November 22nd, 2013

We are hosting one of only two seminars in the UK with Mr Hwang Su-Il from ITF Japan on Sunday 8th December. The Sparring seminar will be 6 hours and held at the University of Derby from 9:00– 16:00 and is open to all BTC member NGB’s. Mr Hwang is a former ITF World Champion and also famed as he was the Motion Capture for the Character Hwoarang  in computer game Tekken.

Medal Haul from UK Open Championships

On 9th & 10th November, students Representing Derby School of TKD travelled to Guildford to compete in the UK Open Championships.  This was a huge competition with over 500 competitors. All students who entered, won a medal from the following categories; Aislin O’Kelly won a Silver Medal in Female Black Belt Sparring, Adam Berry won Bronze in Green Belt Patterns, Ben won a Bronze Medal in Under 14 Green Belt Patterns & Silver in Special Technique and Sykwia Gaslawska won Silver in Female Green Belt Sparring. Master Knighton would like to congratulate all competitors for their hard work and dedication.

Welsh Championships Success

Kevin Manketlaw & ALex Liu participated in the UKTA Welsh Open Championships on 22 September. Alex won a Bronze medal in -65kg Sparring and also Yellow Belt Patterns. Congratulations to both students who performed well for Derby School of Taekwon-Do

Bulgaria Summer Camp

Master Knighton, Adam Park & Kevin Manketlaw attended the annual Bulgarian Summer Camp from 2nd September – 7th September conducted by Senior Grand Master Kim Ung Chol. The daily training was excellent with two Beach/Sea trainings throughout the week. Master Knighton would like to thank Senior Grand Master Kim Ung Chol for his excellent tuition and outstanding hospitality.

Black Belt Promotions for Derby

Tak Tran, Andy Rushby & Ben Martin attended the UKTA Black Belt Seminar/Promotion weekend 30 August-1 September. Training was 3hrs on Friday & 6 hours on Saturday. On Sunday 1st September, all three were successfully promoted: Tak Tran III Dan, Andy Rushby I Dan & Ben Martin I Dan. Master Knighton would like to Congratulate all three students who performed extremely well on their promotions.
